!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , a theme park under construction Northeast of Houston, has !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! that it will be adding a "Motorsportz" area that will include a two mile racetrack for super karts and sport cars. According to the company building it, the track will be open this coming Spring. Hooray?

Let me give you a little background on why there's a question mark in that last sentence. For about the past decade, there have been rumor upon rumor swirling around this plot of land. For years, the whisper mill spoke about this being an actual Disney World resort. I even know people that purchased land around the area eight years ago to build hotels in anticipation of Mickey Mouse showing up with a construction crew. Then, there was Earth Quest Adventures, a planned 1,600 acre dinosaur-themed park that was lost to Bankruptcy, overly-ambitious plans, and poor timing.

Okay, so construction has actually started on Grand Texas, so I can't be a skeptic on this anymore. What will be nice is that it will give racers a new track to replace the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! Texas World Speedway in College Station. Also, perhaps a new high performance driving school for some of us that want to learn how to properly drive their new CTS-Vsport or a Hellcat aggressively? Oh, and don't worry; if you want to drive a super kart around the track at 90mph, they're saying that the track will be good for that too.

The purchase of the land should be done in October. Hopefully we'll get to see some renderings of the actual track soon. Will we get to hoon on a new track by next May? GD I hope so.

You can still be skeptical...

Kinja'd!!!

Could they maybe move the Indycar race there, because the parking lot they use now sucks.

Yeah, I have lived in the Houston area for about 11 years, and nothing has ever popped up here. News hasn't even mentioned this new addition.

I doubt that they would, but one can dream!

There are some Montgomery county employees that are taking a HUGE risk with their careers by banking on this attraction.

Yeah, but I have seen this all fail before around here. Splashtown has almost gone under a few times in the past decade

Basically, that should have been COTA.

Bastards.

As soon as I saw "kart" and "two mile" in the same sentence, that reminded me of Kart Kountry in Kentucky, which boasts a 1.5 mile karting track, when I was there 15 years ago it was a blast.

Sounds like a really poor attempt at a Six Flags Fiesta Texas knock off.

I'm not entirely certain what it is, to be honest.

I'm pretty sure that is the 6 flags in NOLA, not Houston.

That would be pretty sweet, but I just don't see how a theme park can run a track safely and profitably. Unless they hire some people away from other tracks. But hell I would be down, we can have this in the north and MSR in the south.

I wasn't implying location. Just that theme parks make it to the half way stage and die. Or open and die early.

Ah gotcha. I kind of made your point in that there are closed 6 Flag's in both NOLA and Houston haha.

And I also thought you were saying they should move the Indycar race to the abandoned park, which would be pretty rad haha
